Introduction
Installing the Track Extensions helps prevent your door web from popping out of the track when separating areas with pressure differential, or where high winds may be a factor. Although this is recommended in these areas to prevent Door Web issues, this is an optional feature. Track Extensions can be installed on the front side, back side, or both sides of your Vertical Tracks depending on your specific needs.
-
-
If using the optional Track Extensions, the Rubber Seals must be removed first.
-
There is a small Pop Rivet towards the top edge of the Rubber Seal into the Vertical Track which is holding the Rubber Seal in place. To free the Rubber Seal, drill the Rivet out with a 3/16" Drill Bit.
-
To remove the Rubber Seals, slide them out of the channels inside of the Vertical Tracks either through the top or the bottom of the Vertical Track.
-
The Rubber Seals are friction fit inside of the channel and will require some force to slide these out, especially on taller doors.
-
Removal of the Rubber Seals becomes much easier if you make sure you are pulling them straight out of the channel and not applying any upward or downward force while pulling to reduce friction.
-
-
-
Slide the Track Extensions into the channels of the Vertical Track where the Rubber Seals were just removed.
-
When the Track Extension is flush with the top edge of the Vertical Track, use the provided 3/8" Self-Tapping Screws to secure the Track Extension to the Vertical Track.
-
Locate this screw roughly 1" from the top of the Vertical Track to avoid the hole from the Pop Rivet, and centered on the channel opening which is roughly 5/32" from the outside edge of the Track Extension.
-
Fastening the Track Extension too close to the inside edge of the Vertical Track could cause the Screw Head to pop through the Vertical Track.
-
Once Track Extensions are secured, you can proceed to installing you door.
